Imagination Fuel

Wow, over a month has gone by without me updating, which also means a month of self portraits to scan in. That will surely be fun. There's a lot of shit in that batch though so no one get your hopes up. Just thought I'd warn you in advance so you may de-loft your hopes from the towering spindles they've surely been perched upon in anticipation of this months self portraits.

So, Portal 2 is out. Thought I'd do some fan art for it. Fan art is something I haven't done in ages. I'm pretty sure the last piece I did was for Final Fantasy IX, back in 2003(?)
This isn't finished yet, but this WIP has been posted here to try and motivate me to finish it. It started off as a speed paint and I 'finished' it in about 1-2 hours.

Then I went mental with the details and I think the time has gone up to 5-6 hours. And it's starting to drag slightly. Although it has been extremely fun to paint so no doubt I'll finish. I can't believe how versatile the lasso tools can be. Pretty much everything there was painted using them.

I've also been playing been playing around with the lasso tools and texture brushes. Weird right? I didn't expect that either.

EDIT: Also, my monitor seems to be lighter than is usual. They look all right on here but could most probably been unbelievably dark on your monitor. Have fun trying to look at them, if that's the case

  1. That Portal art looks much better without the two portals on the grey sections now. Think it gives it more 'BAM! EDGE! LOOK AT THE CENTER!' and draws you in to the good.

And that second image is peng. Really nice and 'BAM! BRIGHT! LOOK AT THE LIGHT!' I like it and so did he.
